Welcoming a New Caregiver into Your Home

As we continue to welcome new caregivers to the Evergreen Private Care team, we remain committed to providing compassionate, qualified care to all our clients. With these new additions, now is a great time to offer a few tips on how to make the transition smooth and successful when welcoming a new caregiver into your home.

It’s completely natural to feel a mix of emotions—relief, anxiety, or uncertainty—when starting this new chapter. Rest assured, these feelings are shared by many families and caregivers alike. A bit of preparation can go a long way in setting the stage for a positive and productive relationship.

You’re in Good Hands

At Evergreen Private Care, every caregiver is thoroughly vetted, background-checked, and trained before ever being scheduled. Whether they’re providing skilled nursing, personal assistance, companion care, or veteran support, their goal is always the same: to deliver compassionate, competent care in the comfort and privacy of your home.

How You Can Help Us, Help You

So, how can you help foster a great relationship with your caregiver? Here are a few simple steps in the next section to help make this important transition as smooth as possible.

  • Please share with the office if you have any pets (large or small), if you smoke, or other family members, care providers such as therapists or household staff in your home with you on a regular basis.
  • Give the caregiver a brief tour of your home, pointing out some things like the closet with cleaning supplies, emergency contact information, where your medicines or stored.
  • Oversharing is never an issue! Share your preferences with our caregivers; they want to learn about you, what you like to eat, daily routines, what hobbies, games, books, television shows or activities that you like to enjoy. We want to make our time with you as enjoyable as possible.
  • Let us know how your visit went, good or bad. Be sure to connect with our office at 772-219-2990 after your visit to let us know about what the caregiver is doing well, but also where we need improvement or could do better or provide additional services.
