At Evergreen Private Care, our caregivers often go beyond the tasks of a shift—they bring compassion, presence, and genuine care to the families they serve. Recently, caregiver Marie demonstrated exactly what that means.
While accompanying a client to the VA hospital, it became clear that the situation required extra care and attention for both the client and their spouse. Rather than leaving once the visit concluded, Marie made the decision to stay until she knew the couple would be safely home and not alone.
Later that evening, the client’s spouse called our office to share her gratitude. “Marie is wonderful. She goes above and beyond. She told me she would not leave me alone. She makes sure my husband is taken care of, and she even keeps an eye on me.” She also shared how Marie consistently prepares meals, assists with daily living activities, and helps maintain a clean, comfortable home.
As a small token of our appreciation, the Evergreen team surprised Marie with a pinning ceremony at the client’s home. During the ceremony, she was presented with the Evergreen Pinecone Pin, a symbol within our organization that represents caregivers who truly embody our C.A.R.E. values.
The pinecone symbolizes the strength and resilience of the Evergreen community, and the pin is awarded to caregivers who consistently demonstrate our core principles:

Marie’s actions that day reflected every one of these values.
